Implant Dentistry: Maxillary Sinus Augmentation
This two-day hands-on course will give you a comprehensive overview of managing atrophic posterior maxilla.
The course will cover assessment, treatment planning and surgical approaches to lateral sinus augmentation.
It's delivered through lectures, hands-on workshops and live patient surgeries.
All course tutors are GDC-registered specialists with substantial implant experience.
The course is run by the UCL Eastman Dental Institute in London.
Course aims
This course will cover:
treatment planning of the posterior maxilla
surgical techniques for bone augmentation to the maxillary sinus
the assessment and treatment planning of patients with missing maxillary posterior teeth
There will be demonstrations of the techniques involved in the surgical bone-grafting of the maxillary sinus using animal models and live patient surgeries.
Structure
Each day will run from approximately 9:30 to 5pm.
Day one
The morning lectures will cover assessment and treatment planning, before giving you an overview of surgical techniques and biomaterials that are used in maxillary sinus augmentation.
The afternoon will involve hands-on workshops involving animal models and simulating sinus grafting using the lateral window approach.
Day two
This day involves live patient surgeries. There'll be two surgeries - one using traditional instrumentation and techniques, and one with more contemporary instrumentation.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course you should understand the:
assessment and treatment planning of missing maxillary posterior teeth
anatomical considerations and surgical approaches to the maxillary sinus
selection and application of graft materials for the maxillary sinus
staging of maxillary sinus bone-grafting
Who this course is for
This short course is for dentists who are registered with the General Dental Council (GDC). You should have some experience in Implant Dentistry and wish to develop your skills in more advanced techniques.
Cost
This course costs £1,750.
You can book both this course and the two-day Implant Dentistry: Bone Grafting using the Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) Technique (running in Feb 2020) for a combined price of £3,000.
