Neurorehabilitation after Stroke

On this four-day course for healthcare professionals you'll learn about the principles of stroke recovery and rehabilitation, including new techniques and ways of evaluating disability. This course is run by the UCL Institute of Neurology in Queen Square. Course content Lecture topics will include: Goal setting Multidisciplinary assessment Self efficacy and self management Spasticity and use of botox Language/reading Workshop topics will include: Cognitive rehabilitation Vocational rehabilitation Who this course is for This course is for healthcare professionals involved in stroke medicine, including: doctors (all grades) nurses therapists psychologists scientists You should have an upper second-class Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Teaching and structure Lectures, followed by a tutorial, take place once a week on Wednesdays (from 26 February to 18 March 2020). You can take this course as either: a standalone short course for CPD purposes a 'taster module' that allows you to earn UCL credits Credits can be used towards the postgraduate qualification MSc Clinical Neuroscience: Stroke Medicine at UCL if you enrol within three years. Assessment and certificates You'll receive a certificate of attendance if you complete the course. The short course isn't assessed. If you're taking the course as a taster module you'll need to complete one assessment - a multiple choice questionnaire. Learning outcomes By the end of this course you should be able to: describe the different theories of goal setting describe techniques to involve patients in collaborating in goal setting evaluate currently used cognitive assessments discuss the efficacy of treatments for spatial neglect
